History of Methodist Youth Fellowship of our church

The MYF of our church started in the year 2006-07 under the leadership of Pastor Lancer with 6 members who graduated from the Sunday school. The church then realised that they need to involve the youth in the Sunday service as their common interest was music, and the best way was to make them lead praise and worship. This also made them meet once a week for practice and bible study.
In (Year) pastor Jitesh took over. Under his leadership, there was a tremendous increase in the MYF activity. Now, the MYF started to participate in competition at different church levels and started to win many competition. It was also a period for an outreach program to visit NGOs, orphanages etc.
In the year 2017-18 the six member team was now having 20 members. Even the activities grew and under the leadership of Rev Tennison Peter and Rev Andrew Samuel the team started to peak in all their activity, assignment and responsibilities. Below is a brief note on the same.
The new committee was formed in the month of April 2017. The following members were elected:

1. Youth Advisor – Mr. Samuel Godugu.
2. Youth President – Miss. Neha Gill.
3. Youth Vice President – Mr. Emmanuel Dsouza .
4. Youth Treasurer – Mr. Jacob Meril.
5. Youth Secretary- Mr. Allwyn Dsouza.

A monthly subscription fees Rs.50/- for each member is collected. This money helps us for NGO visits, Orphanage visits etc.

The MYF meets once a week every Saturday for Bible study. The purpose of this activity is to keep us more into the Lord because of so many distraction in the outside world today. We also meet twice a week every Friday and Saturday for Praise and worship practice. This again keeps us in connect with the Lord. Every second and forth Sunday the praise and worship in the main service is lead by the MYF. The youth of our church also contributes by supporting and organising various events and programs.

Eight members of our MYF are under going to the confirmation ceremony on 12th November, 2017.

Our Future Plans:

1. In the outreach program we want to know visit hospitals and pray for the sick. We, have already initiated a program to feed the beggars and the destitute people on the street of Kalyan. Funds for this are raised through sale of work. We now want to expand this program by increasing our sale and also inviting donation for the same.

2. We, also plan to participate inter church choir completions this year.

3. We, also plan to go for a two days youth retreat for our church youth. This will be an opportunity for our spiritual growth as we will be inviting pastors who are known for organising biblical workshop for the youth.

We will ensure that the existing programs are not effected adversely because of the new programs.
